Course overview:
Module 6 aims at providing an in-depth understanding of the keys to the nature of fashion trends and, based on this, forecasting major trends that may impact art, fashion, lifestyle and related industries.

  • Stress is placed on the importance of creation and design in branding.
  • Analysis and discussion focuses on the cultural foundations for fashion and luxury in both Western
    and Chinese cultures.

Faculty:
Florence MULLER

Professor of fashion history and culture, IFM. An internationally renowned fashion specialist, she has published: Lancel (Regard, 1996), Art et Mode (Assouline, 1999), Castelbajac (Assouline, 2000), Excentriques (Editions du Chêne, 2001), Les Paruriers, Bijoux De La Haute couture (Bruxelles, 2007), and Fashion Game Book (Assouline, 2008). She has also been involved in a wide range of fashion editorial, curatorial and audiovisual projects. As the Curator and then Director of the Museum of Fashion at the Louvre (1984-1993) she has put together many exhibitions on historical fashion couturiers and contemporary designers. Currently working as an independent curator, she has been involved in international exhibitions for prestigious institutions such as the Kyoto Costume Institute, the Musée de la mode in Marseille and The Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.

LU Xiaobo

Professor, Director of the Department of Information Art and Design, Academy of Arts and Design, Tsinghua University, Administrative Vice Director of the Arts and Science Institute, Tsinghua University, and standing committee member of China Industrial Design Association. As an industrial design and information design expert, he took charge in a lot of product design projects, and planned and organized the first and second Beijing International New Media Art Exhibition and Symposium as well as many other important international academic events.
