Alumni from HEC Paris have gathered in Shanghai to mark the 130th anniversary of HEC’s inauguration.

HEC Paris in China has organized its first ever major reunion for alumni from its Shanghai operations in order to celebrate the superb results achieved by its training programs, especially the Executive MBA (EMBA in China, at Shanghai and Beijing) and its custom programs.
HEC’s strong reputation in China
For the sixth year running, HEC has been crowned Europe’s #1 Business School by the Financial Times, and has been placed at the top of the world leader board for Executive Education programs, top-level training courses for managers and directors. Bolstered by the success of its first training center in Peking, which opened its doors in 2007 and is run in partnership with the State Asset Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC), HEC Paris has since made its EMBA course available in Shanghai as well, where it has been run for the last two years in partnership with the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).
At the reunion evening, the French Consular-General in Shanghai, Mr. Emmanuel Lenain, underlined HEC’s sheer dynamism in China. He observed that the number of Chinese students in France, which currently stands at 30,000, had significantly increased in recent years, and that today they form the second biggest overseas student population in France, with only Moroccan students numbering more. There are now also around 5,000 French nationals studying in China.
Achievements of our former students...
In other news, our congratulations go to Wayne Wang, President of the CDP Group and a graduate from the 2009 EMBA class in Shanghai, for being crowned Chinese Business Leader of the Year at the Horasis Conference held in Spain on November 7 and 8 last year.
And finally, we would also like to celebrate the setting-up of the South China branch of the HEC Alumni Association, represented by its president, Damien Damperon.
We will be closely monitoring how the Association works with the Union of Expatriate French Citizens (UFE) in Shenzhen, in the hope that HEC Paris will be able to pursue its ambitions in our region.
