Module 10: Information Systems for Management & Organizational Structure and Processes
1. MODULE OVERVIEW
The objective of this course is to build a critical understanding of corporate governance. Through
class discussion and interaction with the professor and our guest speaker, the participants will be
encouraged to reflect upon their own futures as senior executives, board members and
stakeholders in the changing landscape of corporate governance.
2. FACULTY BIOGRAPHY
Michel Roger is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Céramique Industrielle and Master
of Business Administration of the School of Industrial Management of Purdue University (USA). In 1967 he graduated from the CPA (to day HEC Executive MBA) From 1964 to 1979, he held various positions in Norton, a US corporation, the world leader in the abrasive industry. His last assignment in this company was Director of Marketing Europe.
In 1980, he joined the Arjomari group, a French paper manufacturer, where he held the position
of managing director of Papeteries Canson & Montgolfier and then became also the chairman of this company.
In 1989, he was appointed CEO of Arjo Wiggins Speciality Papers. (near $1 billion annual revenues) . Arjo Wiggins was, at that time, a UK public company which resulted from the merger of Arjomari and Wiggins Teape. Arjo Wiggins was the 8th largest paper manufacturer in the world and the world leader in speciality papers. In 2000, he has become a consultant in strategic management. Most of his missions have been in the field of merger & acquisitions.
He held also positions as director in boards of several companies to support the UK 3i private equity investments. Since 1978 he has been professor in the HEC Executive MBA programme. From 2003 to 2006 he founded and was head of the Education Centre of the French Corporate Governance Institute (Institut Français des Administrateurs).
