After two months’ of planning and preparation, the 2009 “CCIParis/HEC Paris Cup” Golf Tournament of World-Renowned Enterprises in China, exclusively sponsored by CCIParis Consulting Co.,Ltd. (CCIParis Consulting) for the first time, was successfully concluded today in the Shanghai Links Golf Club.

Sanctioned by State General Administration of Sport and All-China Federation of Trade Unions, organized by Shanghai Administration of Sports and Shanghai Federation of Trade Unions, this Golf Tournament of World-Renowned Enterprises in China, with the great efforts of organization within 2 months by Shanghai Golf Association, HEC Paris and Shanghai Golf Industry Co.,Ltd., has attracted attention of more than 20 world-renowned enterprises and more than 100 elite entrepreneurs from companies like Baosteel, Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd., Shanghai Volkswagen, Shanghai GM, Siemens China, Electrolux China, Shanghai Automotive Industry (Group) Corporation, BASF (China) Co.,Ltd., American International Assurance Co.,Ltd.(Shanghai Branch), Kodak (China) Investment Co., Ltd. etc..

The kick-off ceremony started at 12:10pm on October 17th. Altogether, Mr. Ai Baojun, Vice-Mayor of the city of Shanghai and Mr. Frédéric Beraha, General Director of CCIParis Consulting kicked off the Golf match, nearly 90 people including all attendees and organizers of the match witnessed this memorable moment. Soon after, the Vice-Mayor took the lead by finishing all 18 holes to respond positively to the call for fitness of the State General Administration of Sport and All-China Federation of Trade Union. Important guests, top management of CCIParis Consulting, representatives from all co-organizing companies and members of the organizing committee also attended the ceremony. They are:

This Golf Tournament has also received warm response from all major medias in Shanghai, Shanghai TV station has made a special report for the event. The reason why journalists gave full coverage of this golf tournament is because it is the first time ever that CCIParis Consulting, HEC Paris – No.1 Business School in Europe and Shanghai Golf Association collaborated together to deliver such a wonderful sport event.

CCIParis Consulting was established in May 2009 to support the development of the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIP) in China and providing a broad range of logistics service and technical support to the affiliated companies of the chamber.

Founded in 1803, CCIP, the largest public organization in France and also in Europe is represent 320,000 enterprises in Great Paris Area where is surrounded by three main regions (Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-de-Marne). Under its jurisdiction, the annual output value of these enterprises accounts for 1/4 of France's GDP. CCIP educates each year 14 000 students as well as more than 40 000 employees and Executives in continuing education via its 12 schools and 13 training centers. HEC Paris, the No.1 Business School in Europe is undoubtedly the top among all these institutes which are affiliated to CCIP.

HEC Paris has been working very hard in the last few years to expand its business development in China under the great support of CCIP. After a successful launching of the HEC Executive MBA Beijing Class in 2006 under the auspices of the Training Center of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), HEC Paris has honorably accepted an invitation from the Training Center of National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and introduced its HEC Executive MBA to the Shanghai market and in July 2009, the Shanghai Class was launched. With the aim of supporting the development of HEC Paris in China and help implement its unique business management expertises within Chinese enterprises and business communities which are closely related to China, CCIP decided to create a business unit in Beijing, China at the beginning of 2008. After one and a half years’ preparation and efforts, CCIParis Consulting – a wholly owned foreign enterprise (WOFE) of CCIP, was officially founded in Beijing this May. The establishment of CCIP WOFE in China is both of a strategic extension of the international reputation of HEC Paris and a hallmark of the globalization of the institute, which enables the implementation of the advanced management skills and knowledge of HEC Paris in China and helps Chinese executives to improve business expertise rapidly and to master the advanced management tools and unique business insights in order to address the increasingly fierce global market competition.

After the match, all attendees were invited to attend the Award Ceremony organized by CCIParis Consulting and Shanghai Golf Association. A famous TV presenter from Shanghai TV Station was also invited to be the host of the evening. With a round of applause, Mr. Frédéric Beraha, General Director of CCIParis Consulting, gave a wonderful speech in Chinese, English and French. Since it was the first time that Mr. Beraha played golf, his right arm was lightly injured, however, everybody in the audience gave him rounds of applause to encourage him to continue this sport. In the award giving-out session of the ceremony afterwards, the atmosphere rose gradually with the prizes and eventually reached the climax.

The match set up 12 different prizes including 3 Team prizes -1 champion, 1 runner-up and 1 second runner-up measured by Gross score, 6 prizes of Net score, 1 prize for Long Drive and 1 prize for Nearest the Pin. Prizes were sponsored by HEC Paris, Harvard Business Review China, Shanghai J.W. Marriott, Macallan Whiskey, Electrolux (China) Co.,Ltd., BCLN Golf (Shenzhen) Co.,Ltd. and Munsingwear Co.,Ltd.. Apart from all regular prizes, in order to thank the wonderful preparation and organization work that CCIParis Consulting did for the event, the Shanghai Golf Association granted a special award for CCIParis Consulting – Special Contribution Award, which has marked the start of a long-term mutual cooperation and development between the two parties.

The organizing committee also did very careful planning and set up lucky draws for all attendees, which means that even people who had not attended the match still had a chance to win prizes generously provided by the sponsor companies. According to statistics, more than 80% of the attendees won at least one prize. The biggest winner of the night was Baosteel Group Team. Not only did they won the prize for Team champion (231 pars), but they also covered several prizes including 1st prize of Total score(77 pars), 1st prize of Net score(70.8 pars), 2nd prize of Net score(71 pars), 4th prize of Net score (77 pars) and 5th prize of Net score (72.2 pars). Baosteel Group is undoubtedly worthy of the title of World-Renowned Enterprise. However, the most exciting and intriguing prize of the lucky draws – a Sharp 32-inch color TV was eventually brought home by Mr.Frédéric Beraha, General Director of CCIParis Consulting. The “CCIParis/HEC Paris Cup” Golf Tournament of World-Renowned Enterprises in China was successfully closured in the loud cheers of the audience.

The match has succeeded in using the elegant and healthy nature of Golf to not only promote entrepreneurship, discuss business opportunities and the collaborative development between HEC Paris and world-renowned enterprises in China, but also to increase the exchange of culture and sport and strengthen the friendship and golf skills among the participants of HEC EMBA participants. The event also symbolizes another important milestone of CCIParis Consulting under the leadership of CCIP.
