Workshop overview

I.Q. and technical skills are important but mainly as “threshold capabilities”. They are the entry level requirements for executive positions. Recent research clearly shows the “Emotional Intelligence” is the sine qua non of leadership. There is a high correlation between the emotional intelligence of a leader and the effectiveness and cohesiveness of his/her team. The core of change is rarely about strategy, structure or systems; it is always about changing the behaviors of people, by succeeding it, people may need to reveal their feelings.

How does Emotional Intelligence affect the constant changing in organizations nowadays? How does senior executives and managers understand and manage resistance to change? And how do they implement change in the organizational and human aspects? Professor Robert Weisz will focus on how to manage change in organizations, which shows the importance of having the right balance between an ability to manage down:

  • To have the skill to use communication, motivation and participation, to mobilize and lead a group of people in a certain direction and an ability to manage up;
  • To have the team building and political skills to build coalitions and supports to achieve a result.
    He will also cover the necessity of managing the transition to make the change work and succeed.
